What learning looks like in Year Four

The children have had a couple of weeks to settle into Year Four now and they should be congratulated on all their hard work and efforts throughout this first half term’s learning!

In Year 4 the children study a range of interesting topics, integrating a number of trips into the school year in order to bring this learning alive. Morning learning takes the lead in mastering Mathematical strategies that will help contribute to everyday life and success. Children follow daily Literacy and Reading lessons which often link to the Creative Curriculum. The children also have the opportunity to develop their creative side in our Creative Curriculum topics. They will begin the year creating mosaics, pottery items, inventing stable structures and later fit in sewing practise when making old fashioned purses!

Children also learn Samba through weekly lessons.

As well as developing their academic learning, we develop the children’s personal, social and emotional learning by looking closely at a range of feelings and the ways in which they can be dealt with.

Children's planners will be checked and can be used as a way of communicating between the class teacher, parents and the pupil.

We expect Year 4 children to read every day with an adult.

Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled. PE kit should be in school on Wednesday and Thursday.

Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school every day as this will avoid dehydration and unnecessary walks to the water tap.

Please let the school and the class teacher know if your child has any allergies that we do not already know about.

Please remind your child to bring a coat every day in the winter months.
