  • Forest Fun!

Welcome to our first Forest Fun newsletter. Both our Nursery and Reception children visit our school forest on a Friday. As the weather starts to get cooler, please send your child to school with a waterproof coat, hat and gloves.

Our EYFS children have had a fantastic first few weeks exploring our outdoor woodland space. They are adapting beautifully to our Forest Fun sessions, showing curiosity, building confidence and resilience and connecting with nature.

Here is what we have been up to, along with the incredible benefits these forest sessions bring to your child's development.

    • Exploring the forest area - From navigating uneven ground to discovering hidden pathways, the children have been freely exploring the natural environment. This understructure exploration stimulates imagination and independence.
    • Spotting the Robin - The children have developed sharp eyes! We've been quietly observing a friendly local Robin. This encourages patience, stillness and a deep respect for wildlife.
    • Learning our Autumn song - We have been practising a special seasonal song together. Learning rhymes and songs outdoors together boosts communication, language and memory skills while helping children notice seasonal changes.
    • Playing "1,2,3, Where are you?" - This beloved forest game is a massive hit! It teaches children about boundaries, enhances their listening skills, and builds trust as they navigate hiding and finding their peers.
