    A new online classroom and resource hub, has been launched for use until schools re-open.

    The online classroom will provide free lessons and resources for pupils from reception through to year 10.

    40 teachers will be producing over 180 free online lessons each week, which will cover a range of subjects from English and maths to arts and languages.

    Home Schooling Resources

     

    Dear Parents and Carers,

     

    I am writing to you to inform you of some new learning resources that will be online and on your televisions from Monday 20thApril 2020.

     

    The BBC has unveiled its biggest push on education in its history - ensuring that every child in the UK has the opportunity to continue to follow the national curriculum in these challenging times. This will complement what our school is providing via our school website. 

     

    Each weekday, you will be able to find the following resources:

     

    Bitesize Daily   Every day there will be six 20 minute programmes that will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC Red Button targeting six age groups, from 5 to 14, where teachers, experts and famous faces cover appropriate content for that year group. Each programme will be available on BBC iPlayer as well as having its own regular slot on BBC Red Button, aiding routine and daily structure.

     

    Bitesize Daily Online These shows are aimed at all children across the UK and split into age groups 5-7 years, 7-9 years, 9-11 years, 11-12, 12-13 years and 13-14 yearsOn social media, parents will be able to access further advice about teaching via BBC Bitesize Facebook and Twitter which will be updated regularly with helpful guides.

     

    BBC iPlayer BBC iPlayer will serve up special content to showcase the very best curriculum-related videos and programmes, organised by year group and subject.

     

    BBC Sounds  Two brand new daily education podcasts will be available on BBC Sounds aimed at parents of primary and secondary pupils. Each episode will last around ten minutes and will be a guide to help families home schooling find content on the BBC that supports their education and wellbeing.

     

    We hope you enjoy these free resources with your children.  Teachers at St Philip’s will continue to add a ‘Daily 5’ to your class page on the home learning section of our website.
