British Values Poster Competition

At St Philip's Church of England Primary Academy we feel strongly about the development of our pupils in every aspect. Our vision and values exemplify the importance we attach to the development of all aspects of SMSC as well as promoting fundamental British Values . We firmly believe in a holistic education for our pupils, to equip them for life in an ever changing society. This is based on our Christian ethos and those morals and values held by all of faith and of no faith, as befitting a multi-cultural, 21st Century Britain. We recognise that the development of pupils spiritually, morally, socially and culturally plays a significant part in their ability to learn and achieve, and also in their ability to relate fully to the world in which they live. We therefore aim to provide an education that provides children with the opportunities to explore and develop their own values whilst recognising that those of others may be different. Belief, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour, a caring attitude towards others, an understanding of our own social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of others' are all critical skills that we nurture through our curriculum and all aspects of school life.


Democracy, rule of law, freedom, mutual respect and tolerance are aspects of life in Britain that we teach our pupils. We uphold these values in everything we do, such as elections for our School Council and implementation of a rigorous behaviour policy.


All adults model and promote socially responsible behaviour, treating all people as valuable individuals and showing respect for pupils, parents, staff and governors alike. Children are taught the difference between right and wrong and learn to be able to make those judgements independently. They value themselves and others. Adults also understand the vital role they have in ensuring that groups or individuals within school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalisation by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them.


Our aim is to ensure that our children are given every opportunity to develop and become active members of society who have the positivity to try new things, contribute effectively to the wider community and live their life within the law.
