The Government has provided funding of £150 million per annum across all primary schools and academies to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to Primary School Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
Purpose of funding
Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose they do this.
Sustainability
Investment of the Sports Grant is planned for to ensure sustainability of PE and sports provision across our academy. By using the funding to develop Continuous Professional Development and to enhance the resources and facilities used by our pupils, we can see the benefits of the funding in future years, not just in the academic year that it is awarded. Our dedicated Active Learning Coach is able to build capacity year-on-year through effective investment of the funding.
Please see below the impact statement of how our funding was used during 2021-22 and our action plan for 2021-22.
